The cultural heritage tour takes you right across to central Bhutan.  Enjoy pristine and marvelous landscapes apart from witnessing outstanding exhibits of Bhutanese arts and architectures, spirituality, and first hand encounter of our rural life styles and the people with smiling faces. It is sometimes hard to express adequately the beauty and variety of scenery on your journeys, the grandeur of the magnificent snow peaks, and the picturesque and charm of the many wonderful strategically-built Dzongs (traditionally forts), monasteries and other buildings.

Day 1

-Fly to Paro .  Receive and transfer you to your hotel in

Thimphu, the capital city. A brief orientation while welcoming you

on-board.

-Depending on flight arrival, your programme for the day will be

planned accordingly.

Day 2

 

-Sightseeing in Thimphu

Your programe for the day include visits to the Painting School, Bhutan National Post, and a traditional hand-made paper factory.  Introduction to a family who specializes in textile weaving of immense intricacy, a unique art dominated by women.

-A talk on “Gross National Happiness” in the evening if the group size exceeds 10.

Day 3

 

-Drive to Punakha (3-4 hrs.)

-Enroute at Dochola pass at 3,100 m, enjoy the scenic site of the

108 Druk Wangyel stupas imposing at the backdrop of some of

world’s highest snow capped peaks, Lam Pelri National Botanical

garden and Chimi Lhakhang dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley

popularly known as the devine mad monk.

Day 4

 

-Programme for the day include a 12km Whitewater rafting in the

morning, a visit Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel of the

17th century and a butter lamp ceremony.

Day 5

-Drive to Phobjikha valley (3-4 hrs.), a glacial valley where the

rare black neck cranes from the high Tibetan high plateaus roost

here in winter.   Listen to stories of the black neck cranes which

people in the valley revere and talk highly about it.

-Engage in a traditional dart game with locales.

Day 6

-Take a nature walk with options available in various directions.

-Picnic lunch will be organized for the group.

-Return to Hotel

Day 7

-Drive to Trongsa (3-4 hrs.)

-Your visit for the day include Tsangkha community and its school.

Donations welcome for the school students such as books

and game facilities scarce in those schools.

-Relax rest of the day at the hotel’s view point to enjoy the view

of Trongsa Dzong, the largest (Fortress) in Bhutan and the pristine

nature unfolding before your eyes.

Day 8

-Visit Trongsa Dzong and the fortress-turned Royal Heritage

museum.

-Take a drive  to Kuenga Rabten palace (19km) to see how the

royal families in early century lived their lives.

-Return to Trongsa for o/n in hotel

Day 9

-Drive to Jakar(2-3 hrs.), .

-Check into Jakar Village Lodge for your room and meals. Visit

Kurjey Lhakhang ,  one of the most  sacred monastery built

over a location where Guru Padmasambhava meditated.   Visit a

farmhouse in the evening as a guest of honour.

-O/n in Hotel

Day 10

 

-Drive to Ura (<2 hrs.).   Spectacular landscape with a beautiful community at its center.   Visit Mebar Tsho which meant burning lake had great spiritual significance on your journey back.

-O/n in hotel in Jakar valley.

Note:  Enjoy locally produced cheese and honey among others for your breakfast. Remember the valley also host a very popular local beer factory.

Day 11

-Return to Paro by domestic flight (20 minutes).

Your visit in Paro include the national museum, Paro Rinpung

Dzong and a visit to a farmhouse in theevening.

Day 12

-An excursion to Taktsang, meaning Tiger’s Nest monastery followed by a special treat with traditional hotstone bath which brings great comfort and relaxation to your aching muscles and joints.

Day 13

-Departure from Paro International airport for onward journey .

-Snow Lion ensures you transport and escort right to the airport.

  1. Regular season months are December, January, February, June, July and August.  The rests are peak season months.
  2. Singles are required to pay US$40 surcharge per night while an individual in a 2-pax group pay
  3. US$30 each.

Your tariff covers:

  1. 3 full meals and 2 light refreshments of tea/coffee with snacks a day
  2. Lodge on twin sharing basis.
  3. A resourceful licensed English-speaking guide
  4. Local transport in imported coaches.

What is NOT covered:

  1. Any air tickets
  2. Any expenses incurred on medical emergencies and evacuations
